Beatriz Crespo and Jehosua Medina won the Medium LPA, while Beatriz Álvarez and Echedey García did the same in the Short category

The Plaza de Santa Ana was a trail running party with a record participation of more than a thousand athletes

The city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria welcomed more than 1,000 runners to the tenth edition of the LPA Trail, organised by Arista Eventos and promoted by the Gran Canaria Sports Institute and the Municipal Institute for the Promotion of Physical Activity and Sport of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Katarzyna Slusarczyk and Eloy Cabrera were the absolute winners of this edition of 2025.

The good weather accompanied the runners throughout the day, where they enjoyed the novelties of the routes of the three distances where the green areas of the capital were the delight of the participants. The three races started simultaneously at 10.00 a.m. from different points: the 19 kilometre race started in the centre of Santa Brígida with the parish church of the municipality as a witness; the 11 kilometre Half from the football pitch of the University Campus of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in Tafira; and the 5 kilometre Short from the Lomo Verdejo neighbourhood in the capital.

LPA Larga. David Delofur

In the LPA Larga, the pace was very high from the start. Proof of this was the great time set by the winner, Poland’s Katarzyna Slusarczyk, who was making her debut in the Gran Canaria race and who dominated the women’s classification from start to finish. Slusarczyk crossed the finish line in the Plaza de Santa Ana with a time of 1:21:45, which also allowed her to finish in ninth place overall. She was joined on the podium by Alejandra Sánchez Massa from Madrid and local runner Lola Cano. In the men’s category there was also a clear winner in the figure of Eloy Cabrera, leading the race from the very beginning in the town of Santa Brígida, and taking the victory in 1:14:04. Manuel Alejandro Padrón came in second, while the third fastest runner was Blas Franquis, from the Los Chanchutásticos team.

In the middle distance, Beatriz Crespo won, who was more than two minutes ahead of Sarai Rodríguez and Marta Cabrera. In the men’s race, there was a beautiful fight to the finish line between the first three finishers, who arrived with less than 20 seconds between them. Jehosua Medina, José Ricardo Salazar and Hugo Salazar made up the 11 km podium.

Finally, the 5 km short race also saw an exciting finish with the victory for Beatriz Álvarez, from the Jan Entrena team, who was less than a minute ahead of Uxue Armas and Laura Monroy. The fastest in the men’s category were Echedey García, Oliver Zerpa and Joaquín Guerra, who achieved a time of less than 17 minutes.

The Rector Trophy’s turn and the awaited LPA Kids
The tenth edition of the LPA Trail also featured the Rector’s Trophy of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. This year’s winners were Gara Ramos and Roberto Ramírez.

LPA Kids. Miguel Travieso

The Cathedral of the Canary Islands also witnessed for the third consecutive year the LPA Kids with more than 150 girls and boys. The little ones experienced a unique moment crossing the finish line with their families. Likewise, the participation of different categories of children, cadets and juniors made the LPA Trail an ideal day for the youngest to enter the world of trail running.

The LPA Trail is organised by Arista Eventos and is sponsored by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria through the Instituto Insular de Deportes (IID) and the Ayuntamiento de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria through the Instituto Municipal para la Promoción de la Actividad Física y el Deporte de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (IMD); and the collaborating entities Fred. Olsen Express, Gofio La Piña, Aguas de Teror, Pepsi, Emicela, Lorenzo González Automoción, Bonflex, Inetel, Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Jardín Botánico Canario Viera y Clavijo.
