This Sunday, 30 March, the tenth edition of LPA Trail, the mountain race held in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, will kick off. It will do so with a record number of participants, more than a thousand, and record female participation, with 34% of women registered. The three distances of 19, 11 and 5 kilometres will finish in the emblematic Plaza de Santa Ana in the capital city and the youngest participants will once again enjoy a unique family day with the LPA Kids.

The Italian Laura Burzi, runner-up in the long distance in 2024; the Gran Canarian Álvaro Santana, third in the demanding 360º The Challenge Gran Canaria; the Polish Katarzyna Slusarczyk; the Norwegian Katarina Skaufeldt based in Gran Canaria or Alejandra Sánchez Massa will be the main names to follow in the LPA Larga of 19 kilometres. This edition will have a new start line in the municipality of Santa Brígida, crossing a dense vegetation area to later face the Barranco Guiniguada ravine until the finish line in Santa Ana.

Burzi crossed last year’s finish line at Plaza de Santa Ana only behind Arista Pro Team runner Estela Guerra, just over a minute behind the winner. The Italian has just come back from a great performance at The North Face Transgrancanaria 2025, where she participated in the Marathon with a creditable 22nd place, and finished in the top 10 of the KV El Gigante (9th). She also won last year’s Entre Cortijos 7km race. Some of her main rivals will be Katarzyna Slusarczyk, debutant in the race; Alejandra Sánchez Massa, winner of the Subida Internacional al Pico Veleta; or the Norwegian Katarina Skaufeldt, who also comes from participating in The North Face Transgrancanaria Marathon, was second in the AT Acusa de Artenara Trail in 2024 and will add her fifth participation in LPA Trail.

The LPA Media also returns to the 11 kilometre distance starting from the football field of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The race promises a very high pace and will start crossing a lot of green areas around the campus. In addition, university students will once again be able to enjoy the Rector’s Trophy this year over this distance.

Finally, the short distance will start from the capital’s Lomo Verdejo neighbourhood with 240 participants. A mountain race in the heart of the city and ideal for beginners in trail running along the course of the Barranco Guiniguada ravine to the finish line in the Plaza de Santa Ana. The three distances, despite starting from three different starting lines, will share the same starting time, 10.00 am.
