The race has 1,100 participants, a record number, with more than a month in advance
The tenth edition will start on March 30 with three distances (19K – 11K – 5K)
Since it was born in 2016, the LPA Trail has been consolidating as a relevant event in the capital of Gran Canaria, reaching 1,000 registered runners in last year’s edition. For this year’s 2025, to be held on March 30 through the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, has exceeded a thousand runners, exhausting the available bibs.
The 1,100 participants is the record of a race that has three distances for athletes of all levels and physical condition. The LPA Larga, with 18.8 km and a positive elevation gain of 178 meters, will take runners from the historic center of Santa Brígida to the Plaza de Santa Ana, crossing iconic landscapes of the capital of Gran Canaria. For those looking for an intermediate challenge, the LPA Media offers 11.4 km and 145 meters of positive elevation gain, starting at the University Soccer Field and a route through the greenest landscapes of the city. Another of the options offered by the race is the LPA Corta, of 5 km. A perfect option to get started in trail running with an accessible route that also opens the door to the youngest, allowing children from 8 to 12 years old to participate accompanied by an adult.
The organization also seeks to instill the mountain sport and respect for the environment among the young public, betting on training categories between 13 and 18 years. Therefore, both children and cadets (13-14 years and 15-16 years, respectively) will have the opportunity to take the start in the short race, while those in the youth category (17-18 years) will be able to do so in the medium race. Likewise, university students will also be able to enjoy the Rector’s Trophy in the middle distance of 11.4 kilometers, which will start from the same soccer field of the Tafira Campus of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
LPA Trail is also a race that stands out for its very high female participation, which in this edition will have 34.2% of women in the starting line, a record number of the event, where there are also athletes of 26 nationalities represented.
LPA Kids, the event for the little ones
The LPA Kids will again have a special role for the third consecutive year with two categories, from 0 to 7 years old and from 8 to 12, allowing families to enjoy a day of sports and fun in the surroundings of the Plaza de Santa Ana in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. To date, more than 120 children have registered for one of the two children’s races.
The LPA Trail is organized by Arista Eventos and is sponsored by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria through the Instituto Insular de Deportes (IID) and the Ayuntamiento de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria through the Instituto Municipal para la Promoción de la Actividad Física y el Deporte de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (IMD); and the collaborating entities Fred.
