More than sixty children participate in the first edition of the LPA Kids children’s race – The mountain test that discovers the corners of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria will feature participants of 19 nationalities.

The event organized by Arista Eventos will have three distances of 21, 13 and 5 kilometres that will leave in unison at ten in the morning from the square of Santa Ana, the neighborhood of El Fondillo and the area of Albiturría, respectively, to finish them all in the historic centre of the city. The LPA Trail will be, above all, a family race. A total of 742 runners will celebrate next Sunday, March 19, Father’s Day in an environment that combines the history of the Vegueta neighborhood, the nature of the Canary Botanic Garden Viera and Clavijo, and the beauty of the Guiniguada ravine. This eighth edition, which premieres the LPA Kids mode for children, is the most international in its history with 19 nationalities represented.

The Minister of Sports of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Francisco Castellano, indicated during the presentation of the race held this morning that the LPA Trail «continues to grow and innovate». «It is a test that brings together all ages, with a wide range so that on March 19, Father’s Day, is more familiar than ever» with tours that invite «to enjoy the goodness and excellence of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria».

The manager of the Municipal Institute of Sports (IMD) of the City of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Leticia López, stressed that the LPA Trail is already «a consolidated event» that helps the municipal administration «to contribute to the dissemination of athletics as a base sport» thanks to the first-time inclusion of the LPA Kids. López invited the photographers to exhibit their work in the exhibition hall of the IMD, located in the Las Palmeras Sports Complex, dedicated exclusively to works of art related to sport.

Jazmina Benítez, the race director, highlighted the beautiful environment that runs the LPA Trail. «The tour is spectacular, the rain that has fallen has left it very beautiful and participants are going to find a green LPA Trail,» he said. Benitez stressed the high international participation, with athletes coming from Norway, Italy or the United Kingdom, as well as the presence of women, which represents 28% of the participants. «It’s going to be a Father’s Day to share with family and what better way to practice sports,» he said.

The eighth edition of the LPA Trail is organised by Arista Eventos and is sponsored by the city council,  Ayuntamiento de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria through the Municipal Sports Institute (IMD), the Cabildo de Gran Canaria through the Instituto Municipal de Deportes, Turismo de Gran Canaria and the Viera y Clavijo Botanical Garden; the Government of the Canary Islands with Promotur – Turismo de las Islas Canarias, Fred. Olsen Express, Gofio La Piña, YoPro – Danone and Lorenzo González Automoción.
