The race features three categories and a children’s race with over 100 boys and girls registered.
“It’s positive to see how the LPA Trail is consolidating,” says the Sports Councillor of the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria City Council
The LPA Trail 2024 has everything ready to experience an authentic trail festival in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on March 16th. Arista Eventos, the organizing company of the event, has closed registrations for the three distances and the two children’s races scheduled for this ninth edition. The 1,000 registered participants represent the highest number of participants since the race’s first celebration in 2016.
Three distances, and two children’s races, complete the sports program of an LPA Trail that is already a marked event on the calendar. This is confirmed by the thousand participants who will gather next Saturday, March 16th, in the capital of Gran Canaria. The LPA Long Distance Race, with 21 kilometers, is the longest one in the trail festival. It will start from Plaza de Santa Ana, and the runners will ascend to San Juan, in the area of Barranco Seco, El Fondillo, Casa del Gallo, the Canarian Garden, and the campus of the Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, from there, they will descend through the Guiniguada ravine until the finish line, located in Santa Ana.
The LPA Medium Distance Race, with 10 kilometers, changes its starting point in 2024, which will now be located at the football field of the Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on the Tafira campus. On the other hand, the LPA Short Distance Race, with 6 kilometers, also changes its starting point, which will now be in the neighborhood of Lomo Blanco.
A new addition on this LPA Trail 2024 is the inclusion of training categories. This means that young male and female runners will participate in the children’s (13-14 years old), Cadet (15-16 years old), and Youth (17-18 years old) categories. Additionally, for the second consecutive year, the youngest ones will be able to enjoy children’s races for ages 0 to 7 and 8 to 12, allowing families to enjoy a recreational and sporting day in one of the most emblematic places of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. With this, both Arista Eventos —the organizing company— and the Municipal Sports Institute (IMD) aim to promote sports practice at an early age.
The Sports Councillor of the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria City Hall, Carla Campoamor, highlights that “it is positive to see how the LPA Trail is consolidating itself as one of the events with the highest number of participants” and emphasizes that, given the varied range of distances in the race, it “is perfect for people and athletes of all levels and physical conditions. In the City Hall and IMD, you will have us on your side to continue promoting outdoor physical activity in the various corners of our city.”
The LPA Trail is organized by Arista Eventos and sponsored by the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria City Hall, through the Municipal Sports Institute (IMD); the Gran Canaria Island Council, through the Insular Sports Institute; Turismo de Gran Canaria; Jarín Botánico Canario Viera y Clavijo; the Government of the Canary Islands, with Promotur – Turismo de Islas Canarias; Fred.
